Last year we found out that our good friend Derek Muller, creator of YouTube channel Veritasium, was partnering up with the award-winning creators of the documentary Jabbed to create a new TV series about one of the most controversial materials in human history - uranium. Now the first trailer for Uranium: Twisting the Dragon's Tail has finally landed, and we have to admit it looks even better than we imagined.

The documentary focusses on the extraordinary series of events that transformed uranium from a worthless rock that no one had heard of at the start of the 20th century, to one of the most desirable and terrifying substances on Earth just 40 years later.

In the documentary, Derek will be taking us inside the destroyed reactor in Chernobyl, Ukraine, and around the ruins of the Fukushima reactor in Japan. He also visited Kakadu National Park in Australia's Northern Territory, the source of much of the world's uranium, to find out more about the science that unlocked uranium's force, and how it's since shaped pretty much every part of our modern world.

The documentary has been produced by Gene Pool Productions, who also made last year's incredible documentary on the anti-vaccine movement, Jabbed. We can't wait to see what they've come up with this time.

Check out the trailer above to find out when Uranium: Twisting the Dragon's Tail will be screening in your city. And if you don't see broadcast dates for your hometown as yet, get in touch with the guys over at Gene Pool Productions to request a screening.

We're pretty excited that one of our favourite YouTubers is now hosting his own TV show thanks to the power of the Internet… it just proves that science lovers are the best fans in the world.
