Republican politician Rick Santorum believes that if students really want to tackle gun violence, they should stop protesting and maybe start taking CPR classes instead.

Speaking on CNN's State of the Union, Santorum admonished the thousands of students who marched for stricter gun laws over the weekend. In his interview, the politician said students should stop looking to "someone else" and start taking personal responsibility for gun violence.

The medical community wasn't having any of it.

Dr. Gu's brutal roasting was immediately followed by a whole host of other tweets from medical professionals who found Santorum's remarks equally offensive.

Jess Phoenix, a scientist who is running for Congress in California, also fired shots at Santorum for his insensitive comments.

But the most powerful message came from youth activist and gun control advocate Emma Gonzalez, who made headlines this weekend after her heart wrenching speech at the March For Our Lives.
